A website is like a car; it has to fit the occasion. A tradesman can't do much with a sporty two-seater because he can't transport his tools, and a sales representative, on the other hand, is ill-advised with a van with a loading area because he won't get to his destination on time.
Therefore, if you are interested in a website, you must first clarify the purposes for which the respective online project should be designed.
HTML page – Analogue website
An HTML page is the simplest way to present information analogously. This is sufficient for a one-page, but also for previous pages or satellite websites, as usually only one main product or service is offered or advertised under one domain. All further information is then offered via hyperlink from another website. These HTML websites are also ideal for web business cards, as no other content is available apart from personal information. This means that the website can be edited quickly and easily in just a few minutes and is ready for use on a small webpack or server.
Content Management System
Joomla or WordPress have been available free of charge for several years and these systems can be adapted to your own needs almost limitlessly. The CM systems provide a variety of interfaces that allow the web designer or administrator to change every detail in the layout without having to make changes to the core system. Joomla and WordPress can be used to create extensive content pages, as well as sales and information portals. Classified ad portals, model indexes, company representations, e-commerce shops or websites for dynamic community portals. With the systems, almost any idea and application can be realized with the use of additional modules and components that are subject to a charge.
Shops for e-commerce
Professional e-commerce projects can be realized with a pure shop system such as Magento, os-commerce or Prestashop. Although most systems are not adapted to the German price regulations, they can be changed with a few modifications before going live so that these do not require warnings. I prefer e-commerce extensions such as Virtual Mart for Joomla or Woocommerce for WordPress, which function seamlessly as an independent shop system under the CMS and thus combine e-commerce and content management into one system.
